Introduction

One of India's top domestic T20 cricket leagues for women is the Women's T20 Trophy. This competition, which is run by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), is essential to the growth of women's cricket in the nation. It gives players a stage on which to demonstrate their abilities, earn experience, and attract national selectors.

Over the years, the Senior Women's T20 League has employed several forms. 28 teams participated in round-robin groups in five zones (Central, East, North, South, and West) during the first season in 2008–09; the top two teams from each group moved on to the knockout stages.

For the 2009–10 season, the format was changed. With Manipur and Sikkim withdrawing, there were now 26 teams competing (before there were only 12), and the top two went on to two "Super Leagues" consisting of five teams each, with the winners of both leagues moving on to the final match. This structure remained in place until the 2012–13 season's end.

The 26 teams were split into an Elite Group and a Plate Group for the 2013–14 season, and subsequently into Elite Groups A and B and Plate Groups A, B, and C. The top two players from each Plate Group advanced to the knockout stage, where the two winners competed for the Plate Group championship and were promoted to the Elite Group for the upcoming season. The top two clubs from each Elite Group then competed in a four-team Super League, with the victorious team being named the tournament champion. The sole change to the format was the addition of Chhattisgarh before the 2016–17 season, which lasted until the end of the 2017–18 season.

Teams were split up into one Plate Group and five Elite Groups for 2021–2022, with the top two teams from each group and the top team from the Plate Group moving on to the knockout stages. The schedule was altered once again for 2022–2023; eleven teams advanced to the knockout stages and all teams were split into five groups. Ten teams advanced to the knockout stages in 2023–2024.

Twenty20 is the format in which matches are played. Teams gained four points for a win, two for a draw, no result or abandonment, and zero for a defeat in the most current edition of the competition. Points, wins, head-to-head record, and net run rate were the order in which the tables were arranged. Delhi, Punjab, and Mumbai have each won the competition once, but Railways has emerged as the most successful team in the game's history with 11 titles.
