The Vijay Hazare Trophy, an annual List A cricket competition in India, played its 31st edition in 2023–2024. It took place from November 12, 2023, until December 16, 2023. There were 38 teams in all, split into five groups for the tournament. Six cities in the nation were hosting the performance: Bengaluru, Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Ranchi, and Ahmedabad. The venue for each knockout match was Rajkot. Saurashtra was the defending champions. Haryana won their first national title in the final, defeating Rajasthan by a margin of thirty runs.

After playing knockout stages and quarterfinals, four teams qualified for the semi-finals which were Haryana, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Rajasthan. The first semi-final took place on 13 December at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot between Haryana and Tamil Nadu Haryana won by 63 runs in the end and advanced toward the final of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. The second semi-final also took place on 14 December at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot between Karnataka and Rajasthan and Rajasthan won by 6 wickets in the end and advanced towards the final.

In the final of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2023-24, held on December 16, 2023, at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot, Haryana defeated Rajasthan by 30 runs. Haryana, opting to bat first, set a target of 288 runs with Ankit Kumar top-scoring at 88 off 91 balls. Rajasthan's Aniket Choudhary was the standout bowler, taking 4/49. In response, Rajasthan managed 257 runs in 48 overs, with Abhijeet Tomar scoring a resilient 106 off 129 balls. Sumit Kumar's 3/34 helped restrict Rajasthan's chase, earning him the Man of the Match award and securing Haryana's victory.

The competition, which bears the name Vijay Hazare in honor of the illustrious Indian cricketer of the twentieth century, was established in the 2002–03 season on a national level. Until then, since the original introduction edition, which took place during 1993-94 season, the competition was played on a zonal level. Tamil Nadu has won the trophy 5 times, making them the most successful team. The best teams in each zone competed in a final round-robin stage during the 2002–03 & 2003–04 seasons. A playoff structure featuring semi-finals as well as a final has been used since the 2004–05 event, though the forms have changed.

The winning team of the first season was Tamil Nadu and Punjab was runner-up. The winning team of the 2003-04 season was Mumbai. There were two winning teams in the 2004-05 season. The next season was won by Railways in 2005-05. The Vijay Hazare Trophy was played each year after 2002 and the winners of the next seasons from 2006-24 were Mumbai, Saurashtra, Tamil Nadu, Tamil Nadu, Jharkhand, Bengal, Delhi, Karnataka, Karnataka, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Mumbai, Karnataka, Mumbai, Himachal Pradesh, Saurashtra, and Haryana. These are the winners of 22 seasons of the Vijay Hazare Trophy since it became a national event.

Just the overall most reliable team will have a chance to be included in Vijay Hazare's coveted winner's list. Mumbai has won the Vijay Hazare Trophy Championship four times, while Karnataka is next behind with three victories. Tamil Nadu has won the trophy a record five times. Now that Saurashtra has won the Vijay Hazare Trophy for the first time in the illustrious history of such a significant domestic competition, their name has been added to the list.

In the history-making Vijay Hazare Trophy, Jagadeesan became the first player to achieve five List A hundred in a row. As he scored 277 against Arunachal Pradesh, he also shattered Ali Brown's illustrious record of 268 for the highest score by a male player in domestic 50-over matches. After five years with the franchise, during which he appeared in just seven games, the wicketkeeper was let go by Chennai Super Kings earlier this year. He responded with a bang, scoring runs of 114*, 107, 168, and 128, and scored a double century.
